Anti-spam and messaging policy

Effective date: 26 October 2026

OneWa helps people start WhatsApp chats with businesses they chose to contact. It is not a bulk-messaging tool, and it must not be used for unsolicited or deceptive messaging. This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions and works together with our Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Consent first

  • Contact people only when they started the chat themselves (for example by clicking your link or widget) or have clearly agreed to hear from you for that purpose.
  • Do not message people from purchased, rented, scraped or harvested lists.
  • Honour opt-outs promptly. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
  • Do not use form submissions or click data to send marketing to people who did not agree to it.

2. Prefilled messages and link text

  • Prefilled messages and button text must be honest. They must not impersonate another person or brand, claim official status you do not have, or promise results or returns you cannot lawfully deliver.
  • Do not include links to prohibited content, or wording designed to hide a prohibited Destination.

3. WhatsApp rules apply to you

You must follow WhatsApp’s own terms and policies for the way you use WhatsApp, including its business, messaging and commerce rules. Do not use OneWa to get around WhatsApp’s limits, restrictions or bans, for example by switching numbers to continue messaging after a number was restricted. We are not responsible if WhatsApp restricts or bans any number.

4. Laws that apply to your messaging

You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your communications, including data-protection, consumer-protection, advertising and telecom rules, and for keeping the records they require.

5. Enforcement and reporting

Violations are handled under the enforcement section of our Acceptable Use Policy and may lead to suspension or termination without refund. To report spam or deceptive messaging linked to a OneWa link, use the Report Abuse and Grievance Redressal page.
